Kalyx: Kalyx is a neat and unusual destination that covers several distinct and diverse (distinct and diverse on steroids) niches, yet does them comprehensively. There probably is no more extensive resource on the planet for herbs (especially in bulk) and "natural food" products including homeopathic extracts (a bit pricey), nutritional supplements, natural therapies and remedies, etc. The same goes for Sports & Games ... an incredibly vast selection of every Sport and Game imaginable. Then there's the Personal Care, Kitchen and Housewares products (for personal and commercial varieties), Gardening and Hydroponics, and even Science (definitely geared to the teaching environment here) categories. An unusual site, but one you want to be sure to check out when you've either got lots of time to browse or quickly need something in a distinct category. A site that fills both leisurely and "gotta get it now" browsing methods.
Science News: An award-winning news magazine covering the most important research in all fields of science - since 1922. You'll find pages packed with short articles that appeal to both laypersons and scientists and that deliver an overview of all fields of science and the applications of scientific discoveries. The articles are enhanced with compelling photographic images. Subscribers will also have access to the magazine's digital edition via an app downloaded from the iTunes Newsstand.
Scientific American: America's super long-lived "erudite" scientific magazine ... providing a forum where working scientists and Nobel laureates present their latest work across a broad range of fields, including medicine, technology, energy, the environment, business, and more. Written and edited with technically educated professionals and managers in mind, feature articles provide relevant information on how the latest advances apply to industry, the professions, and public policy. The range of topics is wide and diverse ... a long way from the 4 page publication launched in 1845. It is the longest continuously running monthly publication in the US.
Smithsonian: The official publication of the Smithsonian Institute ... covering a broad range of interests with an emphasis on the natural and hard sciences. You'll enjoy thought-provoking articles on art, history (often with a focus on American History and culture), the physical sciences, anthropology, technology, the environment, popular culture, theater, and much more! Really a great deal and opportunity.
